Vandal Women Fall to BYU in Tight Match at Kibbie Dome – University of Idaho Athletics
MOSCOW, Idaho – After securing two wins in California but missing one match due to weather, the Idaho Vandal women’s tennis team returned to the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.
Fortunately, the world’s largest collegiate tennis stadium comes with a roof, making weather a non-factor. With conditions controlled, BYU made the trip from Provo to challenge the Vandals.
The matchup remained tight throughout the day. The Cougars took the early advantage by winning the first two doubles contests and securing the opening point. In singles, BYU kept the momentum, but Idaho battled hard. Hanna Koprowska put the Vandals on the board with a determined 2-0 victory (7-6, 6-3). However, BYU clinched the match soon after, winning three of the first four singles points.
Despite the overall loss, Valentina Rodas and Naomi Schraeder continued to compete. Rodas earned a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-3), while Schraeder came back from a set down to force a tiebreak and prevail (4-6, 7-6, 1-0), leading to a final score of 4-3 in favor of BYU.
Next weekend, the Vandals hit the road again before settling in for an extended home stretch. Their final away games of March will take them to Nebraska, where they will face the University of Nebraska Omaha on Saturday, Feb. 8, followed by Creighton on Sunday, Feb. 9.
