Dre Bly, former cornerbacks coach for the Detroit Lions, is reportedly joining the coaching staff of the New York Jets, as noted in an Instagram post he shared on Saturday.

Bly teams up with former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who is now the head coach of the Jets, as a member of the restructured staff in New York. He worked alongside Glenn for the Lions in 2023, taking on the responsibilities of the CB coach that year.

Bly spent 11 years in the NFL, playing four seasons with the Lions, during which he made two Pro Bowl appearances. The Lions dealt him to the Broncos in 2007, but he was let go two years afterward.

In 2024, he joins a select group of ex-coaches reuniting with Detroit’s prior coordinators, Glenn and Ben Johnson, who has become the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

The Jets are probably confronted with a complete overhaul after Sunday’s news that quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t be coming back to the team in 2025. Nevertheless, the Jets possess a defense featuring young talent, such as Sauce Gardner, who will collaborate closely with Bly to achieve a resurgence after Gardner’s underwhelming second NFL season.
