West posted several messages on X endorsing what he referred to as his wife’s “invisible dress” at the ceremony.
Kanye West is standing up for his wife Bianca Censori following the backlash from her controversial nude outfit at the 2025 Grammys.
“My wife’s initial red carpet revealed an entirely new realm,” he wrote. I continue gazing at this picture as I did in awe that evening, thinking how fortunate I am to have a wife who is intelligent, gifted, courageous, and attractive. She paused filming her debut movie to create an actual film together. We adjusted that unseen dress six times, and just like magic, poof, we vanished. We appreciate all the outlets that acknowledged us and returned the effort we invested.
West, 47, expressed gratitude to Vogue for showcasing Censori in a “positive light” that revealed her “true strength,” ending with a jab at those questioning how his mother might react.
“You don’t know my mom, you jerk,” he wrote.
West added three additional uncensored pictures of Censori, 30, one captioned, “Posting merely to show off at this stage.” The second and third images displayed full-body views of Censori posing in her transparent dress on the carpet after removing her fur coat to stand next to West.
Following their surprising red carpet moment, Censori and West (who was acknowledged at the ceremony for “Carnival,” his track featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Playboi Carti, and Rich the Kid) chose not to attend the main event, opting to leave instead. Nonetheless, in spite of the speculation, they were not removed.
They did, however, show up at an afterparty, where Censori sported yet another sheer outfit. Censori, together with West, donned a transparent black bodysuit and a set of black suede boots. Her dark hair was pulled back into a bun and she had a subtle smoky makeup style.
Days following their Grammys appearance, executive producer Raj Kapoor, involved in the ceremony, informed PEOPLE that the dress code for the show’s attendees is “artistic black-tie,” adding, “but in the music industry, I suppose that’s open to interpretation.”
“Clearly, there is a dress code for anyone who is performing on the show that we must follow according to standards and practices.” “However, regarding the presence of attendees and nominees, that is a question for the [Recording] Academy [which hosts the Grammys] to address,” stated Kapoor, who will return as an executive producer and showrunner for the 2025 Oscars on March 2.
As per a “Standard and Practice Wardrobe Advisory” released by Deadline in 2013, Censori’s attire might have disregarded several regulations established by CBS Program Practices.
The advisory indicates that “buttocks and female breasts” must be “sufficiently covered,” and recommends avoiding sheer or transparent clothing that “might reveal female breast nipples,” along with “showing bare fleshy under curves of the buttock and buttock crack.” The declaration further stipulates that the “genital area is sufficiently covered to ensure there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin shown.”
