Lions’ Trade Idea Involves Sending Kerby Joseph to the Browns for Myles Garrett

In case you missed it, Cleveland Browns All-Pro EDGE Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade before the 2025 season. As soon as this news broke, NFL fans everywhere, including Detroit Lions supporters, flooded social media urging their team’s GM to make the move.

Numerous trade ideas have surfaced, many suggesting the Lions send several first-round picks to Cleveland for Garrett, but few have proposed including any Lions players in the deal. On Wednesday morning, Brett Whitefield tweeted a hypothetical trade featuring Lions All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph.

Every team in the NFL would love to acquire Garrett, but the situation is more complicated than it seems. First, Garrett has made it clear he only wants to play for a serious Super Bowl contender, which narrows down the list to only a handful of teams.

Second, Garrett has two years left on his contract, meaning he would almost certainly seek an extension before agreeing to any trade. His new deal could demand an annual average value of $35 million.

Offering Garrett a long-term contract, especially at that price, could prove too expensive for Lions GM Brad Holmes, particularly with other key players like Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams needing extensions. Moreover, the Browns are in salary cap trouble, according to Over. The Cap.com, making a trade for Kerby Joseph, who also expects a big contract, highly unlikely.

Ultimately, only time will tell what decision Holmes makes, but a defensive line with both Aidan Hutchinson and Myles Garrett would be a truly formidable sight!
