On Wednesday, CBS Sports Senior Writer Pete Prisco released his list of the top 100 NFL free agents for 2025, featuring three players from the Detroit Lions.

Prisco is an experienced NFL journalist and a current analyst for CBS.

His top three free agent choices in the NFL are quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Tee Higgins, and outside linebacker Josh Sweat. The initial Lions player on the list is ranked just below the top 10.

Carlton Davis – Position 13

Prisco referred to Davis as a “top cover player” who has secured a multi-year contract following only one season with the Lions.

player” who has secured a multi-year contract following only one season with the Lions.

Davis, 28, recorded two interceptions this year along with six pass deflections. He was placed 29th overall among cornerbacks, as per Pro Football Focus, but he was unable to complete the season due to a broken jaw sustained in Week 15.

The Lions acquired Davis in the previous offseason to serve as the cornerstone of former defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn’s man-coverage-oriented secondary, but injuries and lack of performance in the defensive line limited the unit’s overall success for most of the season.

Kevin Zeitler – Position 32

According to Prisco’s rankings, Zeitler is the fifth-best guard available, and he is among the few listed who had a Pro Bowl-worthy season.

PFF ranked Zeitler as the fifth-best guard in the league for the 2024-25 season and awarded him the third-best run-blocking rating of the year. Nonetheless, the sole criticism of Zeitler is his age. He will turn 35 at the beginning of the season, probably deterring interested teams from committing heavily to his skills for the long term.

Levi Onwuzurike – Position 47

Even with his capabilities, Onwuzurike dropped in Prisco’s rankings because of his previous injury troubles.

Following a lengthy absence because of an injury during his second season, Onwuzurike made a comeback in 2023 and enjoyed his finest NFL season yet in 2024. He participated in 16 games and demonstrated he can be a dependable asset in any defensive line rotation.

Onwuzurike achieved the 33rd-highest PFF rating among interior defenders in 2024, accumulating 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble throughout the season.

At 27 years old, he will still have energy remaining as long as he can remain on the field to make an impact.
