“This shouldn’t be legal”: NFL fans react as Chiefs restructure Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones’ contracts to save $50,000,000 in cap space

On Wednesday, NFL analyst Field Yates announced that the Kansas City Chiefs have adjusted the contracts of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones.

 

Yates states that the transactions will create around $50 million in salary cap space for the organization.

The Chiefs have adjusted the contracts of QB Patrick Mahomes and DT Chris Jones, generating $49.446M in cap space for 2025. “The area (and additional) required for Kansas City to secure their initial free agents, such as LT Jaylon Moore and CB Kristian Fulton,” Yates tweeted.
