Aston Villa finally have their first victory of the 2026/27 season — and Unai Emery now faces an interesting decision as his side look to carry their Champions League momentum into the Premier League.
Villa produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Club Brugge 3–2 in Belgium, scoring three times before half-time through John McGinn, Emiliano Buendía and Nicolas Jackson.
The victory was particularly important after Villa had struggled to find the net in their opening Premier League matches. Emery’s side suddenly looked much more dangerous in the final third, with Pau Torres playing a major role in creating two of the goals.
