Jayden Reed was eager for a trip to Detroit to face the Lions but walked away from Thursday’s 34-31 loss without making an impact.
The Packers’ leading receiver entering the game, Reed had 44 catches for 693 yards and six touchdowns this season.
However, he was targeted just once against Detroit and finished without a reception.
Back in October, Reed appeared on the “St. Brown Podcast” and engaged in some lighthearted trash talk with Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, even teasing a planned touchdown celebration.
“Wait until I come to Detroit,” Reed said confidently.
After Reed’s quiet performance, fans were quick to recall his earlier comments.
“It’s always the ones who talk the most that end up being irrelevant,” one fan remarked. Another joked, “Me and Reed had the same amount of catches tonight.”
Even Lions wideout Jameson Williams joined the fun, commenting, “Did he come?” alongside laughing emojis.
While the Packers managed to stay competitive, Christian Watson’s 114 yards on four catches provided most of their offensive spark.
Detroit clinched the win with Jake Bates’ 35-yard field goal as time expired
The defeat dropped Green Bay to 9-4, while the 12-1 Lions secured a playoff berth.
